ATM T-Shirts by Anthony Thomas Melillo

I was in dire need of retail therapy after visiting the dentist to get a root canal earlier this week. Numbness and all I visited my local Barney’s CO-OP and discovered the best tee-shirt brand by far. I live in tee-shirts…like I wear them to sleep and out to dinner type of deal. Basic luxury is just kind of my thing. I purchased a tank, a tee, and a long sleeve scoop neck.

For day time, I wear my tee’s with colorful skinny jeans to add interest or just with linen pants.

The perfect tee-shirt can be paired with a pair of black pencil trouser pants, heels, and a statement necklace for night time. Choosing silkier materials with wool or jersey blends work best.

ATM by Anthony Thomas Melillo is a high-end yet affordable tee-shirt line bound to be an instant must-have in any woman’s or man’s wardrobe.

Made in Peru from the finest cotton’s, I have found my ultimate go to tee-shirt! For now, ATM is exclusive to Barney’s.

Moto Denim for Fall

Zipper denim seems to be a must have this season. Lucky for me, I wear them all the time. With the amount of jeans I own, zippers add sass to the mix. My favorite pair of denim I ever owned was a pair of Habitual jeans that I had purchased at a small boutique in Malibu, California. I wore them for five years and then it was time to set them free to the jean heaven gods. Designers Paige and J Brand are at the top of this denim trend and quite frankly, so am I.

For Fashion’s Night Out, premium denim store Paige had all the employees wearing and marketing her famous new ‘Edgemont’ Skinny Jean from their Fall campaign lookbook.

My recent purchase has been a pair of J Brand skinny jeans with more than enough zippers to have me fail a metal detector screening.

White Jeans beyond Labor Day

Living in Los Angeles, “No white after Labor Day” just does not apply. I love white jeans year round.

How about with your favorite chunky sweater and suede boots?

EQUIPMENT Femme Shirt

A regular button down shirt you say? I beg to differ. In the late 70′s when women’s fashion was taking a left turn into men’s wear, French designer Christian Restoin was one of the first to introduce the classic men’s shirt into the women’s ready-to-wear industry. I believe in tailored basics where craftsmanship and quality make the difference. Simplicity is always key in my book. I would rather have 1 nice shirt than 5 mass-produced shirts because that 1 nice shirt will last longer and most likely never go out of style. Today, the creative director of Current Elliot and Joie have taken Equipment to the next level. My new favorite is Brett’ from the Femme collection. It sits a little slimmer and has only 1 pocket detail. Of course, I purchased it in 100% silk coral and would ideally pair it with white skinny jeans. I can wear it a million and one ways. No buyer’s remorse here. Get it at shopbop, bloomies, or Pickett Fences on Larchmont Boulevard for $198.00

Electric Blue Denim

I splurged on my red jeans remember? Alright well I will not do it again on color denim. Plus, red denim is timeless. At American Eagle I found the cutest pair of rocking blue  skinny jeans. For 44.50, I would buy three pairs if I needed any other color. They also come in red! Cute, affordable, and just plain fun.  I wore them with a plain white scoop long sleeve t-shirt, a brown belt, and jelly sandals. They would be cute with slouchy brown boots and a camel cardigan as well. Cheers.

Louis Vuitton basics

Louis Vuitton the ultimate luxury lifestyle brand is venturing out into more well, basic luxury. They are introducing items like a trench, cardigans, jeans, a track-suit (travel kit in luxury terms) and more. I was really intrigued by the sketches for the line.

DIESEL Makes the World’s First Waterproof Cut-Offs

I bought my first pair of Diesel jeans in the 9th grade–I was so ecstatic! I would wear them everyday to school as they replaced my Miss Sixty denim. Naturally, I am obsessed with denim–therefore, this little piece of news was very interesting to me. Diesel has now made a waterproof nylon version of their classic cut off shorts ! The same fit and everything! My cut offs do not come off of me when I am at the pool or near the beach. Now literally, they will not come off of me haha. For $15.00, I think they are pretty hot to pair with a bikini top.

Citizens of Humanity ‘Thompson’ Skinny Jeans

Finally the search is over! Thank you but no thank you ZARA for always being out of my size in your $60.00 jeans…I now had to splurge and buy me the perfect red jeans from Citizens of Humanity at $158.00. Ah whatever, I collect jeans (is that good enough justification? hehe). These jeans sit higher on the waist and feel amazing. The color is not a bright red either so it can be worn quite frequently. YA! I like to wear them with casual chuck taylor’s or a fun nude heel for a night out.

Note: When wearing colored denim, keep in mind to keep everything else neutral so nothing clashes or takes away from your cool pants!

Sam Edelman ‘KELLAN’ platform

I clearly remember my first pair of Sam Edelman shoes; they were a pair of satin flats with beautiful details. Oh how I loved those flats (even though they would kill my feet). A drastic change from flats–the new KELLAN is so fun! Intricate leather details and ties make this shoe a must have.Check them out soon at Pickett Fences boutique on Larchmont Boulevard for $225.00!

Georgia May Jagger designs for Hudson

Not only does Georgia May Jagger (the daughter of Mick Jagger) model for the  jean company, she is now designing for them too. I have become more and more intrigued by Georgia this past month. Her look is so unique and her style is so effortless. Did I mention her perfect figure? oh yes. She designed a Spring/Summer line appropriately called Hudson by Georgia May Jagger and it rocks. The line meets a mix of edgy rock n roll and a twist on the 80s. Think lace up, zippers, high waist, and body hugging pieces. The collection is a tad bit pricey, but a sexy pair of jeans are worth it in my book.  If the jeans do not tickle your fancy, the campaign alone is worth checking out. The video features behind the scene action.

The Label Whore–

Last week I decided to get a nice blowout. The salon I go to is really nice with the whole 9 yards (coffee, tea, fancy chandeliers etc..) As I was waiting for my stylist, I saw a fashion crime scene! Yup. A label whore! She was wearing Burberry rainboots (mind you, it was NOT raining), J brand jeans (ok I get it), a Gucci logo belt( pain) and a Louis Vuitton winter scarf (kills it for me every time) !!! Oh, and a diamond encrusted Michelle watch and Chanel bag but that is besides the point. I literally laughed out loud to myself and just thought…Why do women think that brand names is what gives you style? First of all, DO NOT mix your designers like that!! If you are wearing Burberry boots, stick to that one monogram! Do not throw a Gucci or a LV in there. Also, the fact that you left the house looking like that sets up a reverse reaction from people. Instead of thinking “Wow that person has great style” they think “Um..Did that person just grab their 4 pieces of Designer wear and wear it all at the same time? Looks desperate and cheap.”
So…again, LESS IS MORE! It does not make you look rich haha.

The Reformation- New L.A. boutique

I first came across The Reformation clothing on shopbop (they should pay me as their spokeswoman) and I fell in love. The line is created by two designers Yael Aflao and Chi Bui who use vintage pieces and revamp them into contemporary designs. The clothes are one of a kind and refreshing. I personally like the designs because they use a lot of silks, vintage and prints. Just last year, they opened up their first L.A. based store on La Brea, which is located near the American Rag where Satine used to be. Check this cute place out, I bet you whatever you buy, you will not see it on anyone else!

Puffy Jackets are back!

Most years in Los Angeles, a jacket is a mild accessory never a necessity. Recently, lets not kid ourselves, its been pretty cold. A pea coat is always nice, a trench is classic, but guess what? Puffy jackets are just back in style! I like puffy jackets to be casual and not taken too seriously. Enjoy wearing one with jeans, ugg boots, and a cozy sweater while running errands!

Plaid luxe

Plaid! Plaid! Plaid! At this point, I have lost count of how many plaid shirts I own! My style tends to be very classic and basic, therefore I wear my plaids very clean-cut. I do like a little grunge flannel here and there but for the most part I keep it simple! I pair a plaid shirt with jeans, shorts, and leggings. Plaid will never go out of style.
