‘The Great Gatsby’ Soundtrack

Gatsby fans, fake social media fans, Leonardo fans, and your 12th grade English teacher are going to go nuts when ‘The Great Gatsby’ premieres in theaters May 10th. What is almost equally exciting? The soundtrack. I personally haven’t loved a movie soundtrack this much since Romeo + Juliet. Do movies even make soundtracks anymore? Forget it.

The anticipated flick features Leonardo DiCaprio, Carie Mulligan, and Tobey Maguire and has Jay-Z as the executive producer for the soundtrack. As if rapping, making babies, being a sports agent, and hanging with Justin wasn’t baller enough. The one song on the album that I am a tad bit weary of is “Back to Black” by Beyonce & Andre 3000. No one can do it like Amy Winehouse, and this version unfortunately doesn’t even come close.

The XX- Together

luxe-fix-loves-musicMusic: By the looks of it, ‘The Great Gatsby’ soundtrack is going to be a magnificent success. Artists like Beyonce, Lana Del Rey, Andre 3000 and Jay-Z himself have laid their magical talent on one of the most anticipated movie releases of the year. One of my dearest tracks has to be “Together” by English Indie band, The XX. Nothing too out of the ordinary for them but why fix somethin’ if it ain’t broken ey?

Fashion: The Glendale Galleria is getting a clear full body make over this year. Stores like American Eagle have moved out, new stores are moving in, the place is getting spiffy. Nordstrom will be relocating to The Americana in the fall of this year. Three stories of greatness is expected. The odd space which used to be occupied by Mervyn’s will be transformed into a beautiful Bloomingdales projected by the Glendale Galleria. The Grove is experiencing a mini face lift as well. A bigger Barney’s I heard. Caruso is just going to work isn’t he.

Beauty: Sachauan Oil Treatment is a new product I am using for my dull looking hair. It can be used as a styling boost or a leave-in conditioner. The price tag is tad hefty but a little goes a long way.

I have attended 2 classes already and can’t get enough. The music is vibin’, the place is spectacular, and the service is off the hook. For starters, Flywheel offers 1 complimentary class, shoes, water, and towels. It is a great 45 minute work out sure to get you sweating. Visit their website at www.flywheelsports.com

Beauty: I have done it. The world will have softer hands due to this amazing product from Archipelago Botanicals. I hate hand cream. I hate the way it makes my hands greasy and cannot stand smelling like flowers or chocolate for that matter. The “Soy Creme Milk No/3″ is probably the best hand creme I have used in my life. That is a bold statement readers. It truly keeps your hands moisturized through numerous hand washings and smells delightful. Find it at your local beauty supply store.

Romper Heaven

When rompers first became trendy I was so skeptical of them. How would my butt look? Will I be channeling an overgrown baby? I wasn’t sure about it all. The trend luckily for me expanded into many different silhouettes which gave me a lot more options. Now, I love it all!

Check out my favorite picks from my Lyst.com and shop them all!

Fashion: Make sure to visit www.decadesinc.com for their FIRST Online Designer Shoe Sale which starts on Tuesday at 7:30 PM.

Does anyone know of the Club Monaco Sample Sale in LA? Well, now you do. It is happening at ClothingLine in Downtown LA Tuesday the 19th and Wednesday the 20th.

P.S. Halston is starting to open their own brick and mortar locations starting with The Beverly Center in Los Angeles.

Beauty: Since when are blow-outs $55? Is it because it’s trendy with the whole “blow out bar” thing? Having curly hair, I get blow outs probably more than I should be allowed. I am slightly impaired when it comes to doing it myself. I do like DryBar where they charge $35 but find it slightly awkward that they recommend a $10 dollar tip. I am a good tipper regardless but its weird.

New & Posh In Larchmont Village

Having worked on the block for over 4 years, I really love Larchmont Village. The quaintness of it all is so charming in hectic Los Angeles. The guys over at Starbucks know me by my first name, I have seen kids grow up, and definitely can identify the occasional crazies that stop by to say hello.

A lot of changing in the next couple months on the block and its exciting!

1. Chipotle just had their grand opening located on Larchmont and Beverly. They took the space where Koo Koo Roo used to be. UPGRADE!

2. Sad but still news worthy, Bottega Marino has closed and will be replaced with Pinches Tacos. They have an existing location on Sunset Blvd.

3. Baskin Robbins has closed and will be turned into a hip coffee shop. If I am not mistaken, there are about…6 coffee shops on the block. There are totally more than that I just cant think of them.

4. Lemonade and Chef Alan Jackson had their grand opening about a week ago where the Larchmont Larder used to be. I LOVE LEMONADE.

That is all I have for now folks.

Fashion: I am all about that Black and White right now. I just bought a Marciano Jacquard number with black and white details throughout. Before the fashion police come to attack me, Marciano is a hidden gem when it comes to dressier basics like high waist shorts, cigarette pants, and layering tank tops.

Beauty: There was a period (2 weeks ago) where I wanted to get lip injections. I know, I know, I am sorry. I soon realized the lip gloss from Benefit called “Sexy Motherpucker” works wonders! It stings a little but so worth it.

Lounge 22 Interiors Showroom Presents To Public

Armen Gharabegian opened his furniture showroom doors earlier this month to the public after many successful years of catering to big rental businesses across the nation.

As challenging as it is to stay afloat amongst competition, Lounge 22 stands behind their “American Made” motto and their constant effort of better design, modern form, quality, and eco friendly take.

“We are proud to be an American company, manufacturing products here in Los Angeles. We are against the grain of global manufacturing and it is our dream to push forward and see our products reach the far corners of the world with a tag that reads ‘Made in Los Angeles,’ you do not find a lot of companies that do what we do,” says Armen. The grand opening on February 11 brought together industry officials in architecture, design, interior design, and furniture design to kick off a new element to the Lounge 22 Company. Located in Glendale, Calif., the space is sleek, modern, and the perfect marriage between art and design for future projects.

Lounge 22 provides services to retailers, corporate and trade buyers, the general public, and rental purposes through their exclusive partnership with CORT Event Furnishings. Many of his designs are made using bamboo, soy based foam, and the highest quality of vinyl.

All Lounge 22 products are also manufactured for timeless functionality. “To be completely green is a hard thing to do, but we have made a conscious gear to be green. We use raw aluminum that is polished and recyclable. We typically do not use leather, and use efficient power sources,” he says. With his eco friendly efforts and keeping it domestic, Armen Gharabegian is looking to create a spark in the industry to hopefully start a unison energy with other talented individuals in the field.

Cleaning Out My Closet

Maybe four times a year, I decide to clean out my closet in order to get rid of clothes I do not wear and make room for new ones. Obviously we all know thats the main reason. I also like to get a sense of what actually is in my closet.

A couple days ago, I decided to do things a little different. Usually, I browse through hangers, pick up random shoes, and perhaps donate a few pair of jeans. It’s never anything super serious. In 2013, I have make a pact with myself that I will only purchase what I truly love and not waste any more money on “eh, its kinda cute,” pieces.

I went to work I tell you. I analyzed every single piece and decided if it was worth keeping or not by these rules:

1. Have I ever worn it?

2. Do I plan on wearing it?

3. Does it fit funny?

4. Am I keeping it because of some sort of sentimental reason?

5. Is it classic and timeless?

6. What would Anna Dello Russo think? hehe

If it didn’t fit the bill, then well, away it went. I got rid of so much stuff that I just did not wear. You know those pieces that you like so much but never actually wear? Ya those too. I am known for having a jean obsession and I remember there was a time where I owned over 50 pairs. Now, I own like 15. I did get rid of a Tracey Reese empire waist top, A pair of high waist Burberry trousers that were just too small, and a bedazzled 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent tank. Oh wow, and my favorite pair of Hollister Co. jeans I used to wear when I worked there and thought I was so cool circa 2006. Painful but it had to happen.

It felt so good to cleanse my closet and subliminally, myself from excess stuff. I know what is in my closet and I can actually see what I have. I recommend everyone to do this.

Don’t forget, make small goals. Everything at once can be overwhelming. Also don’t forget that you are not the only one dealing with a messy or overcrowded closet.

Curtis Kulig’s “LOVE ME” at Urban Outfitters

There is no doubt that LOVE makes the world go round. It is an emotion that is universal without any cultural or geographical boundaries. It is one of the first emotions humans feel as a child. It truly is a beautiful thing.

Who knew two simple words like “Love Me” would gain NY based street artist such recognition. “Love Me” could be seen on rooftops and street walls all over NY.  Maybe it was a play on play on the famous “I love New York” motto but who knows.

Urban Outfitters collaborated with Curtis and created a line of “Love Me” pieces including men’s and women’s clothing and home accessories that you can shop here.

Space 15 twenty will be hosting a pop up shop titled “House of Hearts” in February in honor of his work. Read more about the event here.

I love LOVE and feel his work is powerful and straight to the point no matter how one would like to interpret his motive.

Luxe Fix x The Coveteur: Monique Lhuillier

Good Morning Luxies,

I am really excited about this next Monique Lhuillier post from The Coveteur collaboration because it is close to my heart. Why? She graduated from the same fashion school as I did! Representing FIDM and Los Angeles. Weehee.

Monique Lhuillier established her bridal fashion house in 1996 with her husband in hopes to live her lifelong dream of being a fashion designer (she fulfilled it and then some). Her style evokes femininity, elegance, and class. She recently has incorporated fragrances, stationary, and fine jewelry as part of her Lhuillier lifestyle brand. She has three store locations in Los Angeles, New York, and Minneapolis. If you haven’t gotten a chance to visit one of her stores, you should. Fake the getting married part if you have to, they are that beautiful.

She is based out of Los Angeles, and lives with her husband and two kids.

Fun Fact: Her real first name is Diane.

Check out some of the amazing pictures The Coveteur sent Luxe Fix. Be sure to wait till tomorrow for the whole array on The Coveteur website. I am loving that Fendi bag in the last picture. Oh, and all her shoes. Ah, and that dress. Being a Glambassador rocks.
